Conventional irrigation system , such as channel irrigation systems tend to waste water as large quantities of water are supplied to the field more than the requirement. Most of it runs away without being used by the plants.
Micro irrigation system is an approach to irrigation which keeps the water demand for the minimum by supplying only the needed amount for the crops. This is a slow and regular application of water directly to the root zone of the plant through an economically designed pipes and low discharge emitters. There are several types of micro irrigation, but the far most common are sprinkling systems, drip systems, in line drip tubing.
